Surrealism Theme
For my Surrealism Photomontage i would like it to include myself with either an arm or a hand coming out of my mouth. The theme of this photo would be that actions speak louder then words.in order to complete this photo i will need to take photos of myself while either screaming , or being silent as well as multiple pictures of my arm at different angles. i also plan on have a background as a shings light when i am placed over it or a dark room where you can see other arms coming out of doorways and windows.

Surrealist Artist Inspiration
Ben Goosenes –Born in Belgium as an ad agency art director he started creating photos with a surrealism style. Some of his best pieces have allowed him to receive awards such as the gold and silver medal at the Trierenberg Super Circuit. In each photo he has tried to create his own personal image, and with success. In the last few years you can now find his photos Published in books and magazines.
Max Earnest- A famous painter from German whom dropped out of Bonn University to start his career as a painter. He also became the leader of the Dada movement in Cologne, and later settled in Paris. Only OPENS, When Open for Fantasy
Time taken : 2007
This photo was a great picture and defined surrealism. This photo gives off a sense of mysterious gloomy fantasy , which is what surrealism should commonly represent. The lighting in the photo played a huge part in this concept, and the usage of a neutral background made it more appealing to the eye and brought out the focal point of the photo.
Interpretation: I think that for this photo Goossens is trying to tell that when a door opens, when imagination is used. Doors are commonly used as metaphors for opportunity. this is why included the private sign though opportunity isn’t open all the time however it does come along.
Judgment: I feel like this photo is a success. I believe the lighting and use of contrast colors like the red sign and green grass make it easy to view and easy to understand the photo.

The Fireside Angel
1937
In this photo Earnest used a good sense of colors and gives a happy vibe on the photo. This picture also has a very complex subject matter which allows the viewer to interpret it in any way. To me the meaning of this photo is to express some type of celebration. I get this because of the usage of a bright, intense composition I feel like this was also a success as this picture played a huge part in the history of surrealism and is supposed to almost confuse the viewer in a way of what the subject exactly is.
Compare/ Contrast
These to photos are very similar in a sense that they are both successful in their own way. Both are a great representation of Surrealism. Both photos are however very different the fireside angel is more of a complex piece that really has any interpretation that the viewer wishes to give it while , Only Opens, when open for fantasy is a little more straight forward and you can tell what exactly the subject matter is.

Partner Picture
in this picture i was trying to symbolize my self as almost a king kong type figure. i feel like it came out well although i would have liked to use a different background picture.
